Chosen For Power - Women of Power series by Kathleen Brooks review

Somebody is out to destroy Elle Simpson and everything she’s worked hard to build. As the CEO of a corporate conglomerate, Elle is used to fighting off challengers. However, this new threat comes at a time when she finally lets her guard down to meet Prince Charming. And it’s unlike anything she’s been up against before.

Drake Charles’s work on mobile technology has made him a wealthy, powerful man.
But he quickly sheds the fame and publicity for a more private life, which earns him the label as a man of mystery. Drake adds to that mystery every year when he hosts a masquerade ball for charity. It’s also his best chance to find the one thing he really wants . . . true love.

Having met behind masks of anonymity, Elle and Drake enjoy a whirlwind night of romance that leaves them both wanting more. But Elle must question everything and everyone as she battles to save her life and career. Can Elle trust Drake to help get her life back or will she lose everything?

Kathleen has given us a new series. I love the Bluegrass series. They're fabulous. Her writing style always pulls me in and it was no difference with this book. I was pulled in from page one. The start of this book you may recognise is the short story we got in hot, sexy and bad. This book gives us that short story but with all the ups and downs and the building of their relationship in life after their HEA.

Some of you will know that with he Bluegrass series, Kathleen left the sex scenes to our own imagination. She has a gift with making any romantic scene beautiful and hot at the same time then just letting you imagine the rest. She's changed her style. Now we get to read the hotness that is in her mind. Let me tell you.... Kathleen has been holding back! You'll be fanning yourself whilst swooning.

One thing I was hoping for with this new series is to have another older generation in there to add the flare that the Rose sisters did throughout Bluegrass series. She did. We got some brilliant secondary characters that we will get to know over the whole series. We'll hopefully see them all get what they deserve.

Drake is yummy. I wanted to lick my iPad at times. He's super romantic, loyal, and loveable. I couldn't get enough of him. There is emotional baggage that has caused him to hide away from the media as much as possible but meeting Elle at a masked ball changes all that.

Elle has brought her families business to the top. She's made a name for herself in the business world and is now well known. After working hard to achieve everything she has she hasn't really had the time to date. After an unforgettable night with Drake that all changes.

Their chemistry is brilliant. It's highly sexually charged from the get-go. An instant connection. I will say that when I read Drake and Elle's short story in hot, bad & sexy it was great, however reading it at the start of a full length book made me roll my eyes a little. They have a Cinderella start to their romance that leads to sex and love pretty much straight away. It's instant love. After the initial eye roll I was in love. It shows us their lives; the troubles that come along and showing us their support and belief in each other, their strength and trust.

This is definitely a series I would recommend. I'm very (im)patiently waiting for book two. No pressure, Katheen... Well maybe a little. More please!!

I give this sexy, sweet story 5 romantic stars.
