BLOG TOUR: Rome by Jay Crownover

Title: Rome (Marked Men #3) Author: Jay Crownover Genre: New Adult Publication Date: January 7, 2014 Publisher: William Morrow an imprint of HarperCollins Publishing Event organized by: Literati Author Services, Inc.

Synopsis

Cora Lewis is a whole lot of fun, and she knows how to keep her tattooed bad boy friends in line. But all that flash and sass hide the fact that she’s never gotten over the way her first love broke her heart. Now she has a plan to make sure that never happens again: She’s only going to fall in love with someone perfect.
Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn and rigid, he’s bossy and has come back from his final tour of duty fundamentally broken. Rome’s used to filling a role: big brother, doting son, super soldier; and now none of these fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes the only color on his bleak horizon.
Perfect isn’t in the cards for these two, but imperfect might just last forever . . .

Alicia's review:

WOW. I didn't expect to love Rome as much as I did.... wait don't take that the wrong way. Let me explain. After reading Rule and Jet, Rule was my number one. I LOVE Jet but not as much as I love Rule. I guess I just didn't expect to love Rome more than Rule but I do!

Rome's story is heart-wrenching. He's a broken man that can see no end to his misery, that can't find light at the end of the tunnel, that has no colour in his black and white world.

Rome seems to be unable to find himself after returning from war. He's left questioning everything about his life. He feels unneeded and no longer feels he has a purpose within his families lives. Rule has Shaw now and with Remy no longer alive he doesn't have that need to be someone's protector. He's lost.

That is until spitfire, Cora pours a beer on his head for his mean comments about people she loves. She isn't afraid to stand up for the ones she loves even if it means going against a huge bulking man.

The passion flowing from the pages of Rome just blew me away. Not just passion in the sex scenes but passion in life decisions, past decisions, feelings, friendships and family. It's written so stunningly beautiful!

The pain and suffering Rome is going through is heartbreaking. It cuts you deep. Jay Crownover has managed to tell a nightmarish life of a strong, broken man with a pixie, spitfire to keep him grounded.

I absolutely LOVE this series. Jay brings us some of the most beautifully broken men/women with their perfect opposite match.

You will need the tissues at the ready. At times I felt my heart break. At one point it even stopped. Many moments I found myself holding my breath. But I also I found myself laughing out loud plenty of times. These characters are just a blast in a glass.

The whole dynamic of the group in this series fit so well together. They all have their own flaws but Rome and Cora are perfectly unperfect together.

One thing that shocked me was how much I grew to like Asa in this story. He became a really good part in the story and an important part of Rome's life.

The sex in this book is off the charts. It really gets the lady bits dancing!! lol

AND Rome drives a motorbike.... drooling! Me loves a biker!

You'll meet new characters, get to see previous characters in a different light and laugh out loud plenty of times.

I give Rome 5 outstanding stars!!

About the Author

I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that. I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.
