REVIEW - Through The Glass - Lisa Hobman

About The Book

A broken heart can never be a blank canvas…
You meet someone, fall in love, and live happily ever after…right?

That’s what Jim MacDuff thought, but after years of being blissfully happy, everything he holds dear comes crashing spectacularly down thanks to his interfering mother-in-law. Felicity “Flick” Johnston-Hart is passionate about painting what she sees through the glass. Just like the subjects of her paintings, she’s viewed her life as an observer instead of really living. Although she adores her first love, Jim, more than life, her mother’s expectations eventually chip away at her, making her believe that painting and Jim are simply not enough.

After settling back into life as a single man in the stunning Scottish Highlands, Jim is graced with an unexpected and unwanted visitor bringing painful news that he would rather not hear. A letter from beyond the grave leads him to do something he never imagined and takes him on a journey to try to help Flick rekindle her passion for painting…and maybe win her love again in the process.

Can Jim and Flick make things right before it’s too late, or will events leave them heartbroken and alone forever?

Natalie's review

Oh I really do enjoy books by Lisa Hobman, this story is about Flick and Jim, after going through a messy divorce she turns up on his doorstep with an envelope. Jim is left feeling confused by his feelings especially after the way that their relationship ended, there are lots of twists and turns and all along you feel like you just know these two are meant to be together

Before we know it Flick is in New York working for a art dealership and soon gets caught up in a few situations. She is struggling with her life she has now and the life she left behind.

I loved the way the story unfolded with lots of surprises, I read the whole book in one go finally finishing about 1am as I couldn't put it down.

The characters are easy to get attached too and I really enjoyed the way the story was told it's such a rollercoaster of a ride, one I'm usually reluctant to get off!!!

I give this book 5 stars, it's a easy read with lots going on to keep you entertained

About the author

Lisa is happily married to her soul-mate and has two crazy dogs. She especially enjoys being creative; has worked as a singer and now writes almost full time!
In 2012 Lisa and her family relocated from Yorkshire, England to their beloved Scotland; a place of happy holidays and memories for them.
Writing has always been something Lisa has enjoyed, although in the past it has centered on poetry and song lyrics. Some of which appear in her stories.

The story in her debut novel, Bridge Over the Atlantic, was building in her mind for a long while but until the relocation, she never had the time to put it down in black and white; working full time as a High School Science Learning Mentor and studying swallowed up any spare time she had.
Making the move north of the border has given Lisa the opportunity to spread her wings and fulfill her dream. Writing is now a deep passion and she has enjoyed every minute of working towards being published.
Lisa is working with a wonderful editor at 5 Prince Publishing who is a best selling author in her own right. Through the Glass is Lisa's second novel and number three is waiting in the wings. Novels four and five are almost complete so watch this space!
