Review - The Back-up List, The List Of Possibilities and The Bump List - Miriam Brady & Amber Best

The Back-Up List has only ever been a joke- that’s it. Madison Grey has a celebrity crush list of possible replacement husbands ready with the off-chance her husband might inexplicably vanish. Clearly, Madison was not prepared for- A. her husband’s untimely death and B. Calvin Hunt, rock god and top man on her Back-Up List to begin crushing on her. Talk about your cruel cosmic ironies. It has only been six months since her entire family was killed in a tragic accident and he’s looking to her for a hook-up! Really?

Calvin Hunt, rock icon, is living the dream of any womanizing man-whore- that is until he spots the first unavailable woman he’s ever met. What the hell? Is she gay? He’s busily seducing her with concert tickets and exotic getaways, all while he’s touring. There are plenty of obstacles he’ll have to overcome to be with her and he’ll need all the help he can get from his stoic bodyguard, his nosy Oprah-channeling brother and even Madison’s bizarrely quirky friends who are all fighting to cross his name off of Madison’s Back-Up List.

Natalie's review

Ok think I have been on one hell of a rollercoaster of a ride, the first couple of chapters had me bawling my eyes out

Maddy has everything, a loving husband and four beautiful children who she adored, until one day August 19th her whole world was taken from her when a truck driver fell asleep and killed her whole family in an instant. When I was reading this I felt like my heart has been torn out, sometimes books like this can be hit and miss because when you feel instantly connected to the characters I feel it hard to accept new ones, but this story grew and grew and I was eager to see where it went.

Six months after the death of her family Maddy's best friends decide to surprise her and take her to see her favorite band, the lead singer Cal Hunt had been at the top of her Back-up list for as long as she could remember and she was so excited that she gets to meet him.

Cal is so surprised by how he feels for Maddy, especially as she is classy and not like his usual type he went for. At first he doesn't understand why she turns away from him as this has never happened to him before.

What follows is a story of love, pain, secrets and a whole lot of misunderstanding that threatens to keep these two apart, and with the guilt that Maddy feels she isn't sure these two will ever be together

A fantastic read I can't reccomend this book more I loved it so much

The List of Possibilities used to be the back-up list- that is until Calvin Hunt ‘borrowed’ it from Kinley Brooke’s wallet. He’s taken it upon himself to be her matchmaker now that her divorce is final. She has celebrity crushes like anyone else, and in his position as a rock star, he can make her dreams come true. When he sets her up with a handsome television star, Cal is ready to pat himself on the back. The trouble is she wants someone else, someone she can’t have.

Rory Hunt has been living in marital misery for years now. He’s separated but still legally wedded to Satan incarnate. In his grief, he’s accidentally bonded with and become best friends with another woman, Kinley Brooke. He didn't mean for it to happen, but he wants to be more than friends. This is so not like him; he’s never been unfaithful in any way. Kinley’s been hurt by her cheating ex-husband and is not about to enter into a relationship with a married man. He’s trying to push his divorce through, but it doesn't seem to be fast enough. She’s dating- a lot, even her ex. The only thing he can do is ‘act’ like her closest friend, when in reality she is the love of his life. Can he, as her friend, protect her from an unwanted stalker and a vicious scorned woman who will stop at nothing to destroy her?

Natalie's review

While the first book had me sobbing way into the night, this book was completely different, there were so many twists and turns, yes there were a few cry your eyes out moment but nothing nearly as the first book.

This book is so exciting, there is so much going on it's like when your on a rollercoaster and just when you think it's about to end they sneak in an unexpected drop and your stomach plummets to the floor I felt like I was holding on for dear life!!!!

You met Kinley Brooke and Rory Hunt in Book one and you got a glimpse into the life that they have been living, Kinley has just gotten a divorce and Rory is in a Ice cold relationship that he is desperate to get out, him and kinky start to lean on each other for support but Rory wants to be so much more than friends but won't progress the relationship until his divorce is final.

What follows is a story so exciting you feel like your reading the second part of the book holding your breath

Another 5 star book for me

Murder of Crows, greatest band of all time, are used to living in the limelight. They know what comes with the territory, however, their families have always been off-limits, until now. Super-stardom has come at a high price. Madison Hunt is finding her past exposed for all the world to see. Her best friend and sister-in-law, Kinley is being dragged through the mud as well. Things they thought were secret are now on display, thanks to a tell-all reporter and her show- Celebrity Dirt. Their private joke- the back-up list- has now been made public, while Cal and Rory’s names have been ‘bumped’ from the list. Madison and Kinley appear to be gold diggers who schemed to marry rock star brothers, and don’t mind disposing of them if someone better comes along; at least that is becoming the popular point of view. Will their marriages survive the mistrust, and can their friendships survive the media firestorm from hell?

Natalie's review

Oh boy these books just about kill me, so much excitement going on. This book starts not long after the first one ended, both couples are living relatively normal lives although Cal and Rory have not dealt with their grief properly and and taking each day as it comes, that is until a reporter who will stop at nothing is hell bent on getting all the dirt on the family digging up everything she can on both Madison and Kinley and even going as far as dragging The death of Madison's family into the press.

Maddie and Kin, struggle to deal with the attention and are resorted to going out in a disguise which only leads to further trouble for Cal and Rory who are quickly accused of hanging around with floozies.

When people from Maddie's past return and supposed friends start to sell them out Maddie and Kin don't know who they can trust.

I thought this book was great, it started to finish up nicely and doesn't end on a cliffhanger as such but does leave the story open for another book.

Another 5 star for me
