Hell's Knights and Heaven's Sinners by Bella Jewel blog tour

Title: Hell’s Knights (The MC Sinners #1)
Author: Bella Jewel
Genre: Biker Erotica
Hosted by: Love Between the Sheets

Sex. Who really knows sex? I mean, we've all had sex, great sex even but when you get down to the details, how many of us actually see sex for the raw, primal act that it is?
I thought I knew sex. I've had sex. Heck, I've felt lust. Once, I've even felt love. I thought I knew exactly what sex was.
Until I met Cade.
He's the meaning of sex.
He's a biker.
He's dangerous.
He's powerful.
He's dominant.
He wants me.
My world is about to change, for the better? I don't know. But here's my story, I hope you're ready for it because it's not the beautiful, heart wrenching story most people have to tell. It's passionate, forbidden, morally incorrect and downright, fucking beautiful.

*hides in the bushes crying* IT CAN'T BE OVER.. I NEED MORE RIGHT NOW!!!

WTF? I've just literally had my world turned upside down and left me broken... Just because I have to now wait for book 3 :'( I NEED IT LIKE YESTERDAY!
Let me introduce you to Cade and Danny (aka Spike)

You got it, pure sex on legs. Swoon-worthy-hunky-biker-pigs. Yes you read that right PIGS! But the very best kind of man pigs that make you swoon.

I currently look like I've been maced int he face. My eyes are red, puffy, swollen and streaming!

Alicia's review: Hell's Knights.

Biker book? HELL YES! Yes please! I just love me some bikers and Cade is one smoking hot tamale!
This book flits between the past and present but it is needed in order to see the type of life Addison had growing up. Her mother is a drug addict and sells her body to get the drugs she craves. She doesn't care about her daughter, she too far gone to see the error of her ways so when she passes on from a drug overdose, Addison is left alone.... Until she goes to live with her father. Hell's Knights MC president, Jackson.

For obvious reasons, Addison is very pissed off with her dad. She's suffered a terrible childhood and her father wasn't around to protect or remove her from that life she was forced to live. She doesn't believe in love and therefore doesn't need or want anything from her dad... Well she does, she needs a place to stay so she can save enough money to make it in the world alone. Oh and shes running from her mums pimp/her rapist.

Cade, a member of Hell's Knights MC club, is one sexy ass biker. I mean, he makes you turn to mush but at the same time want to kick him in the balls for his domineering ways. You would most definitely lick them better for him as soon as your foot made contact with his testicles but that's besides the point lol.

Addison has had it real bad and is still running from her past. When things with Cade and Addison heat up, Addison always seems to think people think the worst of her so she lashes out. Cade is patient to a degree but puts her in her place.

Just when Addison thinks everything is going well, in roll Heaven's Sinners, Spike's MC club.
There is bad history between the two MC's that broke my heart. Addison has a way with capturing people so her new found 'friend' Spike doesn't stand a chance, although he wants nothing to do with Cage's ol' lady, she won't let him not be her friend.

This book is fabulous. Funny. Raw with emotions and HOT!

5 Badass Sexy Biker stars!!

He leans closer, lifting his heavily ringed fingers to stroke my cheek so lightly, I tremble.
“You’re the kind of girl that makes a man want to stop what he’s doing, just so he can get a moment to look at that angelic face – a face that will keep him awake for the rest of his fuckin’ life. That’s the kind of girl you are, sugar.”
I swallow, feeling my body coming to life beneath his touch.
“I think you’re wrong,” I breathe as he leans even closer.
“I’m not wrong. I’ve seen a lot of people in my life, and I’ve been with a lot of girls. None of them are as real as you. I’ll fuck you, sugar. I’ll claim you because you’re the meaning of need. You’re what I’ve been lookin’ for.”
Is he serious? I tremble as he moves even closer, bringing his lips only millimeters from mine. I swallow over and over, trying to think of anything else but him. How could he possibly want me that much, after a mere week and a bit? It’s not possible; he doesn’t know me. He just wants something different, a challenge perhaps? I don’t know, but I do know he’s completely wrong about me.
“I’m not what anybody looks for. I’m not what they fight for. I’m not what they breathe for. I’m not the girl you think I am.”
He leans down, shocking me as he slides his lips over mine, gently at first, then roughly when I begin to respond. I can’t help my hand, as it lifts up to wrap around the chain on his jeans. I tug it, bringing him closer. His boots crunch in the dirt as he takes a step closer, pressing his body against mine. I open my mouth, allowing his tongue to slide in and tangle with mine. His fingers travel up my neck, over my cheek and then he thrusts them into my hair, tangling it around them. The kiss is the kind of kiss that stops your breath, the kind of kiss that stops everything. For a split second, all I can feel is him. When he pulls back, I snake my tongue out and lick the last of him off my bottom lip.
“You might not think you’re worth fighting for, or breathing for, but let me tell you, sugar – everyone deserves to be fought for, even those who think they aren’t worth it.”

Spike knows tragedy, he knows that feelings are better left hidden. He refuses to put his heart out there again, it's a pain he's not willing to ever let himself feel. He's got a mission. He's got a goal. Nothing is going to get in his way. He will seek his revenge.
But then there's Ciara, the sister of his deceased wife. She's beautiful and damned determined to throw herself into his life in hopes they can reform an old friendship, but Spike won't hear of it, and Ciara refuses to give up.
Who will win the battle of wills?

Alicia's review: Heaven's Sinners.

Okay so by Heaven's Sinners we already know the bad history between both MC's... It's gut wrenching but the two MC's need to band together. They have a problem that needs sorting and it will take them coming together to fight what they're up against.

Heaven's Sinners is so much more Raw. I thought Hell's Knights was raw, but compared to Heaven's Sinners, its a walk in the park. I was reduced to ugly crying. Yes, UGLY CRYING. You know what I mean... sobbing, unable to catch your breath, maybe even a bit of snot there! LOL. It's a pure raw read and I loved it!

Spike lost his wife. She was murdered when he got himself into a spot of trouble. This has left him broken. The one person who he needed the most was his ex best friend, Ciara, the sister of his deceased wife, Ciara is the reason Spike got married in the first place. You will NOT predict Spike and Ciara's history. It blew me away. I was rooting for these from the get-go. Sometimes we don't get what we want and sometimes we do. I can say that I was left cut wide open, bleeding in misery with what happens.

'Were goin' to get out, get in your bed and I'm gonna fuck you real slow. Then we're goin' to lie next to each other. I don't cuddle, but I will rub your hair until you're asleep.'
Doesn't sound nice and makes me giggles after re reading it about 10 times but in the heat of the moment when you're lost in that world, I swooned lmao. Hot mother fucker spike is!!! They're just about to get out the shower there but my God did it turn me on haha.
Wow, what an amazing series. I hate having to wait for the next book. That's bad for me to say seeing as I'm lucky enough to have read it before all Bella's other fans other fans but Hey, I love these bikers!

This book is funny, emotionally draining, heart breaking, loving, hot and sexy. I want me a Spike!!! The rawness of this book blew me away and I am so in love with both Cage and Spike! Bella is a biker genius.

Oh and you want to know why he's called Spike?.... he has some spikes! If you want to know where or why then you need to read these books lol.

I think Heaven's Sinners is my favourite of the two but that isn't to say Hell's Knights isn't amazing. It's 5 stars BUT Heaven's Sinners for me would be 6 stars if I went up to 6. Oh to the hell with it. I give Heaven's Sinners 6 stars!!! :)

“No, I guess I didn’t. I wanted to, but then Cheyenne came in and you took a liking to her, so I didn’t bother.”
“I went to her, and I fell in love with her, but she wasn’t what I wanted for myself, Tomcat. I wanted you, but you wouldn’t give me a God damned inch.”
“You didn’t think of telling me?” I snap, crossing my arms. “You didn’t think that maybe you should have said something before you just ran off with Cheyenne?”
“What was the fuckin’ point? You couldn’t fuckin’ see it. I tried, fuck knows I tried, and yet you didn’t see me. I was sick of tryin’. Cheyenne threw herself on me, and I thought what the fuckin’ heck?”
I feel my body begin to shake. “I didn’t see it, Spike. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to, it was because I was so scared I would ruin everything if you knew how I felt.”
“Fuck, Ciara, I was constant with you. I picked you up every mother fuckin’ day, I spent every mother fuckin’ weekend with you, I was there all the time.”
“I know that!” I cry. “God, Spike, I know you were ok? I didn’t see it. I was young and I didn’t fucking see it. Then she came along and I stopped believing there was a chance. It was not just on me, or you, it was on us both. We both walked away without telling each other there was so much more to it. I know what I gave up, I know I passed you over to her, and I regret it every day.”
“I don’t regret it, Tomcat. I loved Cheyenne, and I don’t regret marrying her…bu-”
I get to my feet, hurt. His words are something I already knew, but it’s the way he said them. He grips my arm before I can spin away, and yanks me back down. I land harshly, and slap his hand away but his grip is too strong, and I can’t get my hand out of his.
“One fucking moment,” I spit. “One fucking moment can’t go by without her being better. One fucking moment, I’d like to mean a tiny bit more than her. You can’t fucking see it, can you? You walk around with those stupid fucking rose colored glasses on, unable to see anything she did. I never doubted you loved her Spike, I knew you did. I saw it. I lived it. But for one fucking moment I wish it was me.”
I jerk my hand out of his grip, and spin, getting to my feet and turning to walk off.
“It was you,” he yells, stopping me in my tracks. “I don’t regret her, Ciara. Not for a fuckin’ second, I don’t regret lovin’ her, I don’t regret marryin’ her. Cheyenne changed my life, she changed a part of me, but you, Ciara, were the one who opened my heart. You were the first one to claim it, and you were the one who fuckin’ tore it out of my chest the day you ran off. You never gave me a mother fuckin’ chance to explain myself to you. I woke up after we slept together, and you were gone. Couldn’t fuckin find you. It was you who took my heart, and you who fuckin’ broke it. She picked the pieces up when I couldn’t find you, and so I stopped fighting. Cheyenne might have had me in the end, Tomcat, but my heart was always yours first.”

The Dumont Diaries - Alessandra Torre Blog Tour

The dumont Diaries Blog Tour Banner

Candace Tapers’ life finally takes an upward swing when Nathan Dumont, shipping heir and notorious playboy, sweeps her away to a lifestyle of wealth and privilege. But that life comes with strings, and she is soon pulled in directions she never expected, discovering secrets and ulterior motives in the man who shares her bed.   *The Dumont Diaries was originally released, and is still available as a four-part miniseries. This book combines the four pieces of the miniseries into one, full-length novel.

Jennifer's Review

“Cinderella Turns Dark”

This was my first introduction to Alessandra Torre's writing and I have to say it was incredible!  Candace is woman who thought she knew where her life was going, but things don't always go the way that we want them to.  Even though she had a college degree, Candace was unable to put it to use as an event planner so she ended up stripping at the Crystal Palace.  Candace does what she has to while working there to get by and pay her bills, even though she is not happy with what she sometimes has to do.  She does have one rule that she never breaks with her customers, NO actual sex.  When a mysterious stranger starts coming in and asks for only her, Candace is immediately attracted to him.  Soon "Blueeyes" gets Candace to leave the club with him for the night and has her breaking her rule. When the night is over he ends up making her an offer that she cannot refuse and that will change her life forever. In  just a matter of days Candace has a new life, new name, new husband, new home, and more questions than she has ever had before.  While there is little communication between these two there is lots of hot and steamy sex.    This is not your average romance story, but you not be disappointed by it.  Candace is a strong woman who does what she has to do to survive and take care of herself and her father.

I give this book 4 stars and will definitely be reading more books by Alessandra Torre.

Brittany's Review
5 Stars!!!
I got the pleasure of reading this book as an ARC by Jennifer Domenico for an honest review. I have to say, that I absolutely loved this series as well as this book. It ended perfectly! This book picks up exactly where book two leaves off with the couple and continues to show us readers how the newlyweds are living their life.
Now, I have to warn, do prepare yourselves for a little heartache in the beginning of the book. Enzo and Ava must go through their fair share of ups and downs in the book. There are times, that it seems the couple have taken on too much and just won't survive even a year of marriage but their love for one another is forever and they show us that in this story.
This was a beautiful story and ends happily. We aren't left with any questions but rather a feeling of happiness and perhaps even sadness that we will no longer be reading about Enzo and Ava. I loved how the book pulled in the title of the series and this book title into it as well. I thought it was very clever and cute. I am so happy to have had the honor to read this series and write my reviews for Jennifer! I look forward to reading more of her books and would highly recommend this series to others. I hope everyone enjoys this series as much as I did. It is definitely a fairytale!! <3

Withstanding Me - Crystal Spears - Blog Tour 25/9

About The Book

While the chaos and bloodshed have slowed for a short period, life is never quiet in the world of Breakneck. The club is taking time to regroup from internal betrayal and the changing of the guard in a rival group.

Zig Zag became a father at the age of thirteen. While raising a child has never been easy, now his eighteen year old daughter Tatiana makes his life downright hard. She has caught the eye of Travis, the new President of the rival MC Gunners, but all she really wants is Shadow, the newest addition to the Breakneck family. When Shadow’s rejection sends Tatiana running from the only family, home, and safety she’s ever known, ZZ is crazy with worry. The distraction caused by Tatiana’s disappearance could prove to be Zig Zag’s downfall.

If that isn’t enough, ZZ finds himself rampantly attracted to the one and only Storm. She’s beautiful, quick and witty. Their friendship is the one thing that keeps him from growing crazy, and Storm stands by ZZ through all the turmoil. Zig Zag is not accustomed to hearing the word no, so Storm’s constant withstanding just draws him in deeper. Their friendship is one thing keeping him from going crazy, until one night…

The club is regrouping and rebuilding from the mayhem known as the Russian Mafia. A hit is ordered on Tatiana, Storm, Winter, and Piper.

Tatiana’s egg donor reveals secrets that a thirteen year old Zig Zag was too young to understand.

Braxxon is out of reach while he helps Greg Cage deal with some dirty business.

Bloodshed… Secrets… Betrayal… Trauma… Welcome back to the Breakneck world.

Natalie's review:

Ok going to be completely honest with you with this review, before reading i was so excited/nervous to read this book, after reading Seize Me and having my heart completely broken I couldn't wait for this instalment in the series.

In the very beginning there is a note from the author explaining a few changes that she made due to feedback that she received after Seize Me this left me baffled because I completely loved Seize me and it is probably the best book I have read this year - I rate a book on how it affected me and seize me left me an emotional wreck.

Ok onto this book, at first I couldn't get into it, I thought the changes were unnecessary and the tone change completely threw me, the over usage of the word Brother got on my nerves and if I'm truly honest I started the book feeling a little deflated, I wanted the rawness of Seize Me and didn't think I was getting it, however things soon change and I found I was being pulled along into the story of Storm and ZZ and I was itching to find out what was going to happen.

I was soon finding it was one am and there was no chance in hell I was putting this book down, the twist and turns I was reading were excellent the chemistry between Storm and ZZ was off the scales and the sex oh boy it was scorching (although I did have to google what a Jacobs ladder was pmsl). Not only that the side characters drew you in also and I cannot wait for Tatiana and Shadows story to be told.

The Violence in the book is not quite as graphic as Seize me but then I don't think anything could be as graphic as one scene in Seize me, but saying that it's still quite graphic. The brotherhood in the  book is still as strong and you know these men will do anything to protect what is theirs, and you really feel the pain with Pyro who is still completely devastated, I hope he will eventually get his HEA.

The thing that I completely love about Crystal Spears is she is not afraid to be extreme, she will kill major characters and put the characters you love in awful situations and I think that's why it's so raw. No matter what she writes I find myself loving it and finish each book hungry for the next book.

So even though I had a shaky start (that's probably more to do with my expectations and not the book) I give this book a Fan-effing-tastic 5 stars it's another must read.

Alicia's review:
Okay as a huge biker book fan this was a series I couldn't wait to get my hands on and my mind into. From all the raving Nat did over Seize me I knew as soon as I have a spare minute, these were the books I was going to read.

Seize Me is raw but as a big fan of dark erotica, although the books are raw in emotions, it was a fabulous read for me but not as dark as it is for Natalie. From page one I was hooked, like a fish on a line desperate to continue swimming... well reading but I can't imagine any fish reading lol

I was heart broken at the end of Seize Me and wanted Pyro to get his HEA. We get to see how emotionally broken he is from the events in Seize Me and it cut me deep.

Withstanding Me is less raw but still perfect. As a big fan of biker books, the use of the word 'brother' didn't faze me. I've read biker books that say it far more often but I was a little sad that Crystal took the feedback from fans and tamed Withstanding Me down so it wasn't as graphical/raw as Seize Me.

Crystal's writing style blows me away. The way she doesn't mind breaking you completely is great! This series is on a different level to others for the main reason that you aren't guaranteed to see the characters get a HEA.

I love that it wasn't just ZZ and Storm's POV. We get to see a wider side to the story. Some of the turns in the book had me on the edge of my seat, screaming out in shock and having heart palpitations when things started to crash and burn.

sex scene's.... hahaha wow, they are molten hot. I could have got third degree burns from it!

I was absolutely captivated all the way though both books. Couldn't put them down but now I'm a little bugged at myself for not waiting until the next few books are out. The wait is killing me now. I just need Crystal to have magic powers so that the books can write itself from her mind within a day! Jesus, where is Harry Potter when you need him?

All in all this series is fucking AMAZING!

5 freedom riding stars 'brother'!!

Cowboy Town Promo Blitz

Ever since her parents passed away in a tragic car accident, Eden Cross has been living a quiet, stable and predictable life in inner Sydney – the total opposite of her carefree, relaxed, happy-go-lucky past. Her parents passing and the fact she’s an only child meant Eden was left with her best friend, Jules and Matt, her boyfriend of three years as her only family. That was until she discovered something about Matt that would turn her life upside down. Eden leaves Sydney in a hurry and begins an adventure that takes her across four Australian states before she lands in Pine Creek, Northern Territory.

Jackson Henley has lived in Pine Creek his entire life. He runs a massive cattle and cropping station with his twin brother, Jeremy, which they inherited when their parents retired. He’s had a bad experience with relationships courtesy of The Bitch - Dannika, so lately he’s preferred to play the field. That is, until he comes face to face with the stunning brunette beauty who’s behind the bar at the Cow and Calf. The problem is, she won’t tell him her name, she won’t give him the time of day, and she won’t give him a chance to prove himself.

What’s it going to take for Eden to give Jackson a chance? Does he have the patience to even bother fighting for her? How will he handle the competition?

In the end, will Jackson have what it takes to convince Eden to start living again, instead of just existing?

“Hey, gorgeous, can I get another beer?”  I turn my attention from the one-man show and spot Luke, the guy who was here yesterday, and he’s waving an empty glass at me.

“Sure thing,” I reply.  I grab a glass and pull his beer, hand it to him, take his money and return his change.

“So, Dory’s put ya to work, has she?”

“Just helping her out for tonight,” I smile, then sweep my gaze along the bar checking that no one needs refills.  It’s during this exercise that I spot the man who has just walked in.  My breath gets caught in my throat as I watch him take a seat at the bar.  I see his lips move and he’s smiling at people but it’s too loud to hear what he’s saying.  I’m captivated.  He’s utterly gorgeous.  The epitome of Cowboy Hot.  His hair is dark and his jaw is square.  His body is built – broad across the shoulders and narrowing slightly at his hips.  He spots someone across the bar and hands them a fully-fledged, bright white, straight-toothed smile.  My breath leaves me in a whoosh, and then catches again as what has to be his twin slides onto the stool beside him.  Oh my fucking god.

I’ve got a job to do.  I have to pull it together.  It’s not like I’ve never been in contact with good looking guys before.  I worked in one of Sydney’s hottest bars for four years for fuck’s sake.  I mentally slap myself across the face and tell myself to pull it together.  Then I walk across to where they’re sitting and set about getting their order.

“What’ll it be, boys?” I ask in my most relaxed I’m-not-affected-by-you-at-all voice.

Hotty One unashamedly rakes his gaze over my body.  Slowly.  So slowly, I feel my blood start to heat – just from him looking at me.  I must be going mad.  Perhaps it’s the heat up here.  I’m not used to it all.  I really should have worn some linen shorts instead of jeans.

“You, later,” he winks suggestively when he finally pulls his eyes to mine.  Now, don’t get me wrong – the wink was hot.  Fucking hot.  It was the way he said it that turned me off.  You know those guys that can get anyone they want?  Yeah, they’re not so bad.  It’s the ones who can get anyone they want, and they know it, and they show it – that’s the turn off.  Just with that line, Hotty One has shown me he’s a player, unfaithful, untrustworthy and most definitely not the kind of guy I want to get involved with – in bed, or out of.  But, as a woman, I’d rather die than have him know how he affected me, so I tilt my head to the side, smile my cheeky smile and say, “Not tonight, handsome. Or ever.  Drink?”

* I read fiction until I was 11 years old.  After that I read non-fiction, true crime, bio's etc.  When my son Jovi drowned in 2011, I found I couldn't bring myself to read non fiction anymore - it was too "real".  Fifty Shades was dominating the media so I got myself a copy and I'm not ashamed to say I read all three of those books at least ten times each.  They allowed me to forget my reality for a little while.  Then I decided that I was going to follow my dreams and write.  I wanted to show my children that just because their brother died, didn't mean they did or our family did.  I want them to reach for the stars and chase their dreams, and the best way to do that is to lead by example!

Dawn Martens: I'm Dawn. I co-wrote a two books (Chase and Kade) with fellow author Chantal Fernando, in the Resisting Love. We went solo on three of the books, she wrote Ryder, and she is writing James, and I just finished writing Derek.
I drink too much, Swear too much, and Read too much. Yes I read too much. I don't have a filter, and I tend to speak before I think.
I'm a beta reader for many authors, I'm on a few authors ARC list, because apparently I'm THAT awesome. ;) And I also Edit. Not a professional, but I do help a few with that.
I have two children, 5&2, and have another on the way. They bug the shit outta me, but hey, that's what kids are supposed to do. ;) Married since 2007. He's amazing, but he's also a bigger pain in my ass than my kids are.
I love to read. and I love being able to write stories that *I* want to read!
I couldn't do this without the help of some very special friends!

I'm Emily.  I am the proud mother of two lovable but irritating teenagers. I have been married for over twenty years, but I would gladly trade my husband for Tatum Jackson any day!
If you are wondering who that is, you need to read Sweet Dreams by KA now. Kristen Ashley is my queen!
I love to read.  I am a complete mommy porn junkie!  I have more books on my kindle than most people could read in a lifetime, but I will get to them all eventually!
I am also an avid blogger.  I love to share my favorite books and pimp my favorite authors.
I just finished writing my first solo book, Windows.  I hope you all enjoy it!

Soptlight Author - Mary Campisi

If you haven't read any of Mary Campisi's Books then you are missing out. I first Stumbled upon Mary when i was feeling Christmasy and wanted something to read i downloaded my kindle app onto my mobile (yes i think i was the only one without an actual kindle) and started to browse through the free books to see if i could find a Christmas story.
don't know how it happened but i found A Family Affair,  I was drawn to the cover but it wasn't until I started to read that I found that it wasn't an Christmas story and oh my gosh it was fantastic,  i didn't put the book down until i had read the last chapter and went on to download Pieces Of You and The Way They Were.

It was at this stage that i started to hunt mary down on Facebook i wanted to know more about her books but i couldnt seem to find her,  it was by chance that she commented on a post that another author wrote that i added her as a friend, I then Downloaded my completely favorite book my Mary and that is Paradise Found,  That book is Awesome and is a must read.

I have continued to read all of Mary's books and find each one just as good if not better than the last i have still yet to read A Family Affair - Spring but it is next on my list to be read.

Here is a little more about Mary Campisi

Mary Campisi

Mary Campisi writes books about second chances. Whether contemporary romances, women's fiction, or Regency historicals, her books all center on belief in the beauty of that second chance. Mary should have known she'd become a writer when at age thirteen she began changing the ending to all the books she read. It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB/GYN office, for her to rediscover writing. Enter a mouse-less computer, a floppy disk, and a dream large enough to fill a zip drive. The rest of the story lives on in every book she writes. When she's not working on her craft or following the lives of five young adult children, Mary's digging in the dirt with her flowers and herbs, cooking, reading, walking her rescue lab mix, Cooper, or, on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with her very own hero/husband on his Ultra Limited aka Harley. Mary has published with Kensington, Carina Press, and The Wild Rose Press. She has recently released A Family Affair: Spring, the long-awaited sequel to A Family Affair. This is book two in the popular family saga series, Truth in Lies. Mary is currently working on A Family Affair: Summer.

We have also Managed to get a Interview with Mary, Here is what she had to say

If you could work with any author who would it be?

Any author?? Hmmm. That’s a tough one, but I think I’d say Barbara Samuel who is also known as Barbara O’Neal. (Back in the day she wrote historical romances as Ruth Wind.) She’s a wonderful fiction writer and I took an online class from her a few years ago. What I learned was invaluable: trust my writing, trust what I write, and tell my story. It was so liberating. I would love to follow her around for a day or a week or a month!

Who is your favourite author and is you writing style similar to theirs?
If you are asking all-time favorite, I would say Judith McNaught. I love, love, love her. We don’t have the same writing style, but she can tell a story that pulls me in hard and fast. I love her historical as well as contemporary romances. LOVE them.

What's your favorite part of a book?

My favorite part is about halfway in when everything is such a mess and there are so many problems, you wonder if the characters will ever dig their way out!

When naming your characters, do you give any thought to the actual meaning?

No. I do have a book of baby names, but rarely consult it these days. I actually consider a few things when choosing a name– what does the name mean to me, how does it sound when spoken out loud, is there a nickname for it, what does the name represent in society? It has to feel right. And I’ve become more conscious about using the same beginning vowel or consonant for characters of the same book.

Who Are your target readers?

Readers who want an emotional love story that deals with betrayal, forgiveness, and redemption, and includes family, a small-knit community, and a woman’s hope for a second chance.

What are the major themes of your work?
Second chances is the big one. Forgiveness, redemption, acceptance.

Any recent works that you admire?
Many, too many to name

What do you think people search for in a book?

I don’t think there’s one answer to that. At times, it depends on a person’s mood. They may be tired or distraught and simply want to escape. Or, they may relate to a character or a situation and connect in that way. Books can give hope, enjoyment, even be a catharsis for a difficult time. I’ve read books for all of those reasons and continue to do so.

How have your personal experiences affected your writing?
Oh, that is such a loaded question! I write about belief in the beauty of that second chance. (I’ve even named a series that.) I have lived that mantra: change in careers, a divorce with 3 children under age 6, remarriage to my very own hero, and even adopting a rescue dog 5 years ago. Life was difficult and there were times I didn’t know how I was going to get from day to day, let alone look toward a brighter future. But I had my family, not in proximity because they lived miles and states away – but they were only a phone call away and they were always there for me. I also had 3 young daughters and I knew I had to set a good example for them – one that would teach them about strength, resilience, and respect for themselves. It seems so long ago, but I haven’t forgotten those times or the wonderful second chances that came along.

What genre of books do you like to read? Do you limit yourself to only the genre that you write yourself?
I do love reading Regency historicals, those are my favorites, but I read other genres. I also read non-fiction books, literary fiction, and whatever else intrigues me.

Were you always good at writing?

I always loved creating a story – of course, where I came from, I had to learn about cities and different people from library books! Yes, I always had a way with words – they intrigued me and I loved reading. BUT, I used to only write essays and such…thought-provoking pieces -no fiction until much later.

How do you get started with writing a story (as in, how do you start developing the story, how do you get inspired for it)

I think about a situation. The situation grows in my head, sprouts people with hopes, baggage, and lots of problems. The situation gets bigger, the people intersect and collide….then my brain threatens to explode with a huge headache, so I start writing notes so I can get the clutter from my head….Okay, not exactly, but pretty much. I think about a nugget of an idea for a long time, sometimes subconsciously for months, and when the idea will not go away, I know I have to write about it.

What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing?

Get out of your chair. Live life. Go apple picking, bake banana bread. Color, Listen to music. Spend time with family. Engage another part of your brain so you won’t think about running out of creativity. Quite a bit of my best thinking comes when I’m walking the dog. And while there’s always much talk about plotters versus pansters, (I’m a combination) I think you do have to have a sense of where your story is headed. If you don’t, you’ll likely hit a wall and struggle. Also, let the rough draft flow…don’t constantly fiddle with it…the truest story is what you are writing the first time. Yes, it’s messy, but there’s serious emotion there. You can correct later – first, get the heart and guts of it down. And above all, embrace the process – it’s one heck of a ride! Writing calms me like nothing else does. Enjoy!
