Beats by Kendall Grey review.

Book 2 in the Hard Rock Harlots Series

WARNING: BEATS is specially formulated for horn dogs, porn oglers, smut peddlers, BDSM junkies, M/M and M/M/F addicts, DP dabblers, body modification connoisseurs, and lovers of A2M backdoor sexy times. If you don’t fall into these categories, can’t stomach hot man-on-man action, or if you have no idea what the above acronyms mean, please back away from BEATS now. This isn’t the book you’re looking for. Failure to heed this warning could inadvertently throw unauthorized users into a persistent vegetative state, or at the very least, require administration of a defibrillator to the chest and/or groin area. Nobody wants that.

For months, shy drummer Jinx Hardwick has been silently crushing on her tall, dark, and scary bandmate, Toombs Badcock. Drawn to his frightening ink and scars, she yearns to uncover the shadowy secrets lurking behind his silver eyes, but Jinx is too intimidated to even look at him, let alone talk to him. When she stumbles upon Toombs and their manipulative lead guitarist Rax in a compromising position, Jinx realizes her chances of winning Toombs’s heart aren’t just a long shot—they’re nonexistent. To make matters worse, Jinx’s family needs her at home. She’s about to back away from it all—Toombs, the band, her dreams of fame and fortune—when Rax makes her an offer she can’t refuse: a no-holds-barred night alone with Toombs. There’s one small catch. She has to go through Rax to get it.

Alicia's review

OH MY FREAKING GOD! THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!!! I loved Strings and couldn't wait for Beats to be released.

Jinx is an absolute sweetheart but she's not sure who she really is. Is she the good girl she is with her family, is she a secret naughty girl or is she a hardcore drummer? She's all three but it takes Toombs to make her see who she really is.

Toombs is in love with Rax. His bandmate and best friend since childhood. Rax gets Toombs and knows what he needs to enjoy his sex life. Toombs is sub to Rax' Dom. It something that works for them. That is until you mix Jinx in the equation.

Jinx is madly in love with Toombs and is given a proposition by Rax. She can have Toombs for one full night alone IF she has a night with Rax and Toombs together first.... I wouldn't turn them down thats for sure! lol

Rax knows Jinx' weakness... Toombs. He uses this against Jinx to get what he wants. Her. After a night of passion filled sex Jinx' world is turned upside down with a family problem. Rax steps in again knowing she needs what he is offering.

Will Jinx follow through with his second proposition or will she be saved by the one she loves? We you'll have to read Beats to find out.

Sex is HOT. Toombs is HOT. Rax is HOT... but he's a nob! Amazing read. I loved it.

One thing I will say is that although there is NO CLIFFHANGER, I still felt like I have to wait for the next book to fully get the end of Jinx and Toombs' story. Rax wants love and he is hoping to get it from Jinx. Even if that means betraying Toombs.

Underestimated by Jettie Woodruff.

Underestimated by Jettie Woodruff blog tour

Warning! This is not your everyday fall in love romance. This book contains disturbing situations, strong language, graphic, sexual content, some forced, some not. If it's your happily ever after love story that you are looking for, you should probably move on. If you are up for the ride, stick around and it may just turn into a love story after all.

Morgan starts her life in a bad situation, she doesn't really know what she wants out of life. She's never had anyone to look up to, or help guide her in the right direction. She had it rough, and never dreamed that it could get worse, however she finds that it can, and does.

She learns what real hell is when she meets the husband that she doesn't want to marry, but isn't given a choice. Can she escape? She can, and does only to wake up and find herself right back at square one

Alicia's review

Wow. This book is amazing. It's hard to put into words the emotions this book brings out in you. It's dark and very graphical but just blows you away. I've read dark books before and this is by far, the best I have ever read.

I want to start by saying the warning shouldn't be taken lightly. If you can't deal with reading about abuse then this book is not for you. Once you get over the darkness, the lightness shines through.

I'm a little lost for words as to how to explain what this book did to me. It's not your typical romance but it does have an HEA. And what a twist to the HEA. It's a mind fuck but a totally good mind fuck in the end.

This book is worth everything it puts you through from start to finish. The pains and emotions, the love and hate, the darkness and light. It all adds to the amazingness that is Underestimated.

I definitely underestimated what this book would do to me. I figured its a dark book with twists and turns but it's so much more than that. So much more!

I've been on rollarcoaster rides with books before but this book is completely different. Think around the world trip. Every destination brings out new emotions. Every destination holds new information that will make you hurt or love. Every destination will make you question things that happened or question what the characters do.

The book started a little bit slow in finding out the type of abuse Riley/Ry went through with her husband, Drew. I say husband but he didn't earn that title in her life. She was sold by her father to him. He treated her disgustingly. Truly horrible. That all adds the the story and conclusions in the book though.

So Morgan (confused yet? lol. Morgan is Riley. Riley is her new identity) was sold by her father to Drew as a sex slave. She went through hell for 6 years of her life but that wasn't her only hell. She was living in hell growing up with an abusive father too.

When she finally breaks free and runs from Drew, she builds a happy life for herself. She meets Lauren, who is the best friend you could wish for. She builds Riley back up to have strength to stand up for herself. It's not just Lauren who does that...

In walks Dawson. Dawson is the towns Sheriff in the new town she lives. They become an item and fall in love. I love Dawson. He is a true gentleman. The type of book boyfriend you want the HEA with.

After loads more twists, turns and events, Drew comes back into her life. Sometimes it takes standing up for yourself for people to truly see who you are. Drew really does love Riley. I didn't want her with him at first but the more I got to know him afterwards, the more I loved him. Sick and twisted, I know. I can't help it. Drew is just someone who gets under your skin.

There is a character called Derik that I should probably mention. He is part of Morgan's from when she suffered abuse from Drew. He also added to the abuse.

I'm not telling you any more. This is a book you have to read to understand how you can love an abuser and want the victim to end up with him. How you can forgive years of abuse but will never forget.

I'll let you know that I never once thought my mind could be messed with as much as Underestimated has messed with it. It's blew me away. Book hangover comes to mind. Book coma comes to mind but what I'm really feeling is book death. I don't think I'll ever read another dark book that will even come close to how amazing Underestimated is. That's it. I've been ruined for all other dark books in the future. I know I will always end up comparing other books to this.

Jettie Woodruff is a fucking genius! The way she sucks you in to the life's of these characters, the fucked up mess of the characters personalities and the journey you travel whilst reading the book is just outstanding.

I feel mind fucked but in a totally awesome way!

I give this book 5 mind boggling dark stars.

This could not be happening. It was like one of those movies that kept you on the end of your seat, waiting to see what happened. I went around the bus, and Derik was now right behind me. I shot back in front of the bus and took the next street to the right. I kept darting in and out of traffic, up and down different streets with Derik right on my tail.
I finally got out of the city enough to get some speed, still passing cars, illegally. I didn’t care. I would have loved for the cops to see me and stop me. They didn’t, and I was left to fend for myself. I was a few cars ahead of him when I came up on a sports car with the top down, full of young girls. They were yelling and having the time of their life, but they were driving too slowly. I knew I shouldn’t try it. I couldn’t see if anything was coming from the little knoll.
I darted around them, and I was right. I shouldn’t have done it. Neither I nor the city bus driver had time to react before my car was under his bumper. I don’t remember much after that. I could vaguely recall sirens, voices and the sound of a saw. I was hot. I was so hot, and I could smell smoke. Was the car on fire? Was I being cut out of the car? I didn’t know. I was drifting away. I felt my body becoming lighter and lighter as I floated into the dark.
I’m sorry, Dawson…

Author BIO

Jettie Woodruff is a practicing physician and has been a Civil War buff for decades. No. Not really, she is not a doctor nor is she a Civil War buff. She is however a goof-off and has a hard time being serious for too long.

She does enjoy a challenge when it comes to her writing. She feels as though she needs to pull every emotion possible from her readers. She wants you to be pissed off, questioning your sanity, depressed, happy, and hopefully turn your mind from wanting to cut the villain into tiny little pieces to loving him by the end of the book.

Underestimated was her first dark endeavor. It was a goal alongside of writing a series, a standalone romance, a young adult, which she can’t check that one off. She tried she really did, but her mind just doesn’t work outside the gutter and it quickly became rated X.

Jettie lives on 163 acres in a rural part of Ohio. She loves living in Ohio, except maybe the snow, and the long winters, maybe the hot summers too, Ah, hell, she hates Ohio. She does love the land and the solitude of the country. She just wishes it was in a geographically in a better part of the country.

Jettie has two grown children and one who will be eighteen in a matter of days. YES!!! She has also recently just had her first, cutest ever, most adorable, granddaughter in the whole world. Her oldest daughter just hit her with the news that she will be adding another grandchild to the family in February. Although she is sure she will fall in love with the little creature, she still can’t say the G word.

Jettie enjoys reading as much as she loves writing. She has way too many favorites to list, but one of her all-time favorites from years ago was the Casteel series from V.C. Andrews. One of her new favorites is C.J. Robert’s, Captive series. Reading it gave her that needed push that she required to say the hell with what people think and write Underestimated.

By day Jettie is wearing business attire and managing a mattress store. By night she is in front of a keyboard or her Kindle, wearing, well let’s not go there. Underestimated was her fifth book published. The first one was just shy of a disaster, not that it was a bad book. People liked it. She just knew nothing about it, no revising, no editing, just a spur of the moment…. “Oh, I wrote a book, lets publish it.” Train wreck and a half. Her Star series was one of her favorites and is held dear to her heart. She is now working on an adult romance that should be live around the end of August, early September. She can’t seem to stay focused on it at the moment, due to a much needed Bahamas vacation coming up with Adam Levine’s walking around half naked, buying her drinks.

Two Roads - L.M. Augustine

TITLE: Two Roads
  AUTHOR: L.M. Augustine
 GENRE: Young Adult

The only person poetry-loving Cali Monroe hates more than herself is Logan Waters, the geeky kid who lives in the dorm building next to hers. Ever since Cali's parents told her she would amount to nothing, she has felt entirely inadequate. Friendless and alone, she takes on the mean girl role in hopes it will make her feel better--and Logan serves as the perfect target. He infuriates her with his obnoxiously long lashes, his all too perfect dimpled smile, and his complete lack of personality outside of his intelligence. It doesn't hurt that he's part of the reason her brother is dead, either. So Cali hates him, and he returns the favor. Thus, their prank-filled, insult-driven rivalry is born, and torturing Logan quickly becomes the highlight of her life. But when Cali's parents set them up on a blind date, she begins to realize Logan might not be as boring as she always thought. He shares her love of poetry, takes a sadistic pleasure in making fun of crepes, and he makes her blush when he calls her smile pretty. And hey, maybe those long lashes of his aren't that obnoxious after all… Two Roads is New Adult Romance about finding love, standing out, and learning to embrace who you are. It contains some language and mild sexual content.

Brittany's Review:

4 Stars!!

This book was one that you either hated or you loved it! At first, I thought I was going to hate it. It was not at all what I had been expecting. The more I read the more I was pulled in though. The characters really got to me and by the end of the book I couldn’t even decide if I liked this book. I waited a day before even trying to write this review to gather my thoughts. In the end I somehow grew to love this book. It’s a very twisted book and sad even. We see a character go through a lot of hurt and pain in her life to finally find happiness but at the end of the book her world is shaken up completely.

Yearning Devotion is the first book to ever make me really have to think about how I felt after reading it. There are a lot of things in the book that I found a bit odd I guess you could say, but yet gave me a perspective that some things are not always perfect in life and that means books as well.

We meet Gwen who has been through her fair share of hurt in her life. She has had McKayla in her life for 10 years and without her she probably wouldn’t be where she was. Her life seems to be going pretty well until suddenly Cole walks into it and shakes everything up. Gwen hates men and doesn’t trust them at all but Cole shows her that she can enjoy a man, trust a man, and even go as far as loving one.

It’s a twisted love triangle and things seem to be going good by the end of the book until an unexpected person comes back into Gwen’s life and really makes everything spin out of control and that it where we are left with this book. Must say, I am not a fan of cliffhangers but it does guarantee that book number two will be read by me. I have to find out what will happen with Gwen and her past, as well as will she ever pick one lover.
Overall, this was by far a very interesting story. It had lots of up’s and downs, right along with so many unexpected twists. I advise that if you read this story to have an open mind, and wait a day before jumping into the conclusion if you liked it or not. In the end I’ve come to the conclusion that I loved this book!!

Murder, lies, and betrayal … will Marissa figure it all out in time and escape with her life intact, or will she be too late and fall into the trap of deception?

Brittany's Review

I read this book with no expectations or even knowing what I was in for since I decided to read the book before looking at the synopsis. I have to say though, that I really did enjoy reading this story. It was suspenseful, fun, and passionate.

Marissa has just broken up with her boyfriend who she has been dating for years and has decided that she is going to have fun with her best friends before graduating college and moving to Wilmington, NC. Things change for her though when she finally meets her neighbor, the sexy and mysterious Alec. She decided to take things slow and just enjoy the time she can spend with him. Marissa learns secrets about Alec that she would have never though possible, but his secrets lead her to lies and deception as well as danger.

We get to see how the love between the two grows but as well as seeing what having no trust can do to a relationship. This is a story that will make you want to not stop reading until you discover ever lie, and secret that there is.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to others. I look forward to reading more books by L.P. Dover in the future and hope that everyone enjoys this book as much as I did.

4 great stars!!

Taking a deep breath, I turned around to face him with his hands still holding onto my arms. “Are you asking me on another date?” I asked, teasing him.
He smirked, a slow tilting of his lip that had me aching to bite it. “That’s up to you if that’s what you want to call it,” he murmured heatedly.
“What if I do want to call it that?” I asked boldly.
Alec pinned me up against the counter and placed his arms on both sides of me, locking me in to the confines of his body. His piercing blue gaze held me captive, and I was drowning, struggling to breathe as he moved closer.
Bending low, he continued his torturous teasing by breathing across my neck. My eyes fluttered closed as his lips connected with the tender flesh at my collarbone. I shivered as the chill bumps fanned across my skin and made me weak. His voice in my ear immediately counteracted the chills. “If you want to call this dating, then I think that usually requires a little bit of touching, does it not?”
My breathing accelerated as Alec’s body grew flush with mine, leaning dangerously against me. He tilted my head back slightly so I had to look into his face. Slowly, I placed my hands on his hips, and instead of touching the waist of his jeans I was met with the bare skin of his body where his shirt had lifted up.
Holy shit, his skin felt hot! I could feel the ridges on his sides where they disappeared beneath his jeans, and I wanted nothing more than to trail my tongue down the contours of his muscles.
With hooded eyes, and a raspy, breathless voice, I replied, “I’m sure it’s customary to withstand some touching, but not too much since I don’t know you very well.” I said it, but my body didn’t really mean it, and he could tell I was lying to myself.
Slowly, he brought his hand to my face and trailed one of his long, lithe fingers over my cheek and down my neck. “Like this,” he insisted, swirling his finger around my neck. “Is this the kind of touching we’re allowed to do?” Chill bumps exploded across my skin, making me shiver.
“Yes,” I breathed, relishing in the feel of his touch. “Just like that.”
Closing my eyes, I sighed as he trailed his finger further down, stopping at my navel. The heat of his breath fanned across my face as I felt him dipping lower. I didn’t dare open my eyes and risk breaking the connection, but I wanted to see the heat in his gaze. Ever so slowly, his mouth connected with mine, soft and confident. He lingered for a moment, not moving, just his lips touched lightly to mine.
I wanted more … a lot more.
