'Take a Chance on Love' Review

Take a Chance on Love
by Christi Williams

Book Blurb

When Chancie de Leur meets highway patrol trooper Micah Taylor one frosty Wyoming night, instant sexual heat kindles between them. Chancie's a lonely young widow who owns her own business and Micah is divorced, so there shouldn't be anything holding them back. But Micah wonders if Chancie's obvious wealth might become and issue, or the fact that she's apparently the second woman in his life who has zero interest in ever having his baby.

Micah has no idea of the real problem between him and Chancie, until he meets her son. Ten-year-old Jamie de Leur is determined to break up his mom and her lawman, and Micah questions whether any relationship with Chancie is worth dealing with the spoiled kid she's raising.

In a showdown over Jamie breaking the law, Micah has to decide if he wants to be Chancie's cop-or her family man.

Emma's Review

Chancie de Leur is a single mum, widow and workaholic. Her drug screening business has taken off and has little time for her son, let alone a relationship. Chancie may act tough and in control to the outside world, but on the inside she is lost and falling apart slowly.
One night at work she meets Micah, a State Police Trooper, who is there on a routine drug tested. There is an instant attraction between them. Micah has a bad marriage behind him and no woman has peaked his interest until he sees Chancie. Both Micah and Chancie are willing to take it slow and see where it goes. Not only do they have everyday obstacles to overcome such as their jobs, they also have the added pressure of Chancie's ten year old son, Jamie. Trying to keep their cool and not get too hot and heavy around him is a bit of a challenge for the new couple. Jamie is going through his own angst of not wanting to be treated as a little boy anymore and also wanting his mother to spend more time at home with him and not at work. Adding Micah to the mix just creates confusion for himself and he directs his anger towards his mom and her new boyfriend.
This love story could happen in anyones life. It was a little slow to begin with but picked up soon enough. I really wanted to see these to get their 'Happily Ever After' since both had such horrid first marriages and both had really given up on ever finding love again.

'Take a Chance on Love' is a sweet romance about getting a second chance at love and learning to trust your heart again. This was Christi Williams' first novel and a great start to her career. I have given this 3.5 stars.
