Author Interview - Elaine Raco Chase

As you all know we like to do author spotlight over on island lovelies,  and this weeks spotlight is the very talented, lovely Elaine Raco Chase,  for anyone who has not yet read her books they are HOT! HOT!! HOT!!! You will love them,  here is our interview with the lady herself.

About Elaine Raco Chase

If you like sassy, laugh out loud, contemporary romances - some more explicit than others - you have found the right author!
Reviewers have called them: "cat & mouse" - "slow burn" - "hot and steamy" - "highly addicting" - "solid characters & lots of humor" - "amazing reads!"
I call them fun! My heroines are NOT: thin, petite, clueless or submissive. They are strong women who aren't looking for a man - until the right one comes along!
And those men! Tough-guy, alpha males who don't know what hit them! But do know they want MORE!
I also write erotic mystery/thriller's and the Agatha Christie nominated non-fiction "How to write the Amateur Detective Novel" which is in the FBI Forensic Library at Quantico.

Island Lovelies Interview with Elaine

Q. If you could work with any author who would it be?
A. I'd love to work with Sandra Brown – we've been friends for years and laugh way too much
Q. Who is your favourite author and is you writing style similar to theirs?
A. Too many fav's (Sandra, Janelle Taylor, Barbara Mertz) not sure anyone writes like me LOL!
Q. What's your favorite part of a book?
A. Creating the characters…and their books are 85% dialogue, work great as audiobooks
Q. When naming your characters, do you give any thought to the actual meaning?
A. Sometimes but mostly I give them horoscopes that match their personalities
Q. Who Are your target readers?
A. Women & Men (I got a lot of great reviews from men on: Dare the Devil (ebook & audiobook & Rules of the Game eBooks) target audience would be 30+
Q. What are the major themes of your work?
A. Happily ever after mostly erotic/steamy romance with strong women and alpha males – and it's usually the men who get slammed by 'love/lust at first site'
Q. Any recent works that you admire?
A. Janelle Taylor just changed focus from her NYTimes historical novels to psychological mysteries…and WOW!  I also like Kallypso Masters' "Master at Arms" series..very deep characterization
Q. What do you think people search for in a book?
A. I hope compelling characters who come across as so 'real' readers feel they can contact them – cause that's what I write
Q. How have your personal experiences affected your writing?
A. Some fun experiences in Rules of the Game: my bowling/golfing prowess (I've been banned from a few places) and my singing ability (lack of it); Video Vixen – Mothers Against Drunk Drivers theme – I was hit by a drunk driver; Caught in a Trap – heroine who was abused as a child (taken from my dad's life)
 Q. What genre of books do you like to read? do you limit yourself to only the genre that you write yourself?
A.  I love reading romance and mystery (which I write) – love non-fiction (which I also write) pretty much will try everything at least once!
Q. Were you always good at writing?
A.  I came from writing for radio/TV – both AM radio shows (I was one of the voices); TV commercials (wrote/directed/produced) and had to learn how to write description because all that was dialogue.
Q. How do you get started with writing a story? (as in, how do you start developing the story, how do you get inspired for it)
A. I usually start with 'what if' – add in 'what type of person would this happen to and how would they handle it' – love 'finding the characters horoscope' – then the setting that enhances
Q. What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing?
A.  I've taught creative writing at colleges and universities in US and Canada since 1985 – and have done quite a few special week long classes for kids grades 4-12 and adult ed….  Run out of creativity – do all things physical!  I've hung 12 rolls of wallpaper, mowed lawns, painted rooms, cleaned out garages/attics/basements…anything and everything physical. Let your mind wander (just don't get hurt!) and usually the creative juices start flowing!

Best Laid Plans

This book had me hooked from the very first page, but then i wasn't surprised by that as i have found that with all the books i have read by Elaine Raco Chase so far.  This book is about Amanda and Lucas and how their friendship has gone from strength to strength over 12 years from their first meeting at collage though to moveing in different careers, and hundreds of miles apart, then Kitty and Wade come on to the scene and Amanda and Lucas find their feelings have growen from brother and sister love to another level but what will come of any of these relationships, i would highly recommend this Hot spicy book. *****

Emma Fitzgerald

Here are my short reviews for Elaine Raco Chase's books "Special Delivery" and "Best Laid Plans".

Best Laid Plans was a beautifully written book about 2 best friends (Amanda & Lucas) Both start questioning their relationship and start to wonder 'What if...?' it was more than just friendship. Throw in a casual girlfriend and a new admirer just to confuse them both! A fun, sweet & sexy romance!

Special Delivery is a fun & sexy read by Elaine Raco Chase. It's the story of Roxanne & Bram and what happens when a snow storm traps them together. Sweet, witty, sexy and even laugh out loud. This book may be set in the dead of winter but it will warm your heart as these two characters discover each other.

Double Occupancy

I loved this book ... Casey and Travis played a great cat and mouse game. I could not put the book down. I read straight through until 4:00 a.m. to finish it! These two are so sexy together. I was so sorry to see their story end - it truly was a great love story which built up through the book. You will love this book and this Author ...I highly recommend it for a great night of reading!

Special Delivery
I totally loved this book!! Roxanne Murdoch is the owner of a personalized greeting company. During one of her scheduled parties, her employee gets sick and Roxanne finds herself in the position of delivering, in person, a personalized belly-gram. Full of stamina and courage, she is determined not to let her client down. Roxanne slips into a very skimpy costume and heads to the event during one of the biggest snowstorms of the season. Her assignment is to work her dancing magic at a bank party attended by a group of elderly gentlemen and one very handsome, young, Vice President, Abraham Tyler “Bram.” Roxanne and Bram become stranded in an empty office building while the storm paralyzes the City. What follows is a very funny, hot, eventful love story which leads to their happily after!! Elaine Raco Chase is a phenomenal author! Once you read one of her books, you are hooked!!
