Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire Review.

Product Description.

Set in the same time-frame as Beautiful Disaster, now we hear the story from Travis' point of view. Travis lost his mother at a very young age, but before she died she taught him two important rules...Love hard. Fight harder. Growing up in a family of men who like to gamble and fight, Travis Maddox is a tough guy. Known for his bad reputation with women, and feared for his incredible fighting skills, all the boys want to be him, while the girls simply want him...Abby Abernathy is the first girl to treat him the way he feels he should be treated, with dislike and disinterest. It is her lack of interest that sparks his determination to win her round. Will the invincible Travis 'Mad Dog' Maddox be defeated by a girl?

Alicia's Review.

Every story has two sides. Walking Disaster is Travis Maddox’s POV of Beautiful Disaster.
Abby tells her side of their journey in Beautiful Disaster and now Travis gets to tell his side in Walking Disaster.
Do NOT read Walking Disaster until you read Beautiful Disaster first. So if you haven’t already read Beautiful Disaster… Go get it!
You need to read these amazing books and if you have read Beautiful Disaster then you need to read Walking Disaster – not that I’ll need to tell you that! If you have read Beautiful Disaster then you will on count down to get your hands on some more Travis Maddox!!

Let me start by telling you that I was crying in the first chapter. I mean real heart wrenching sobs!
Walking Disaster starts when Travis is three years old. Travis mom’s last words to him before she died were LOVE HARD and FIGHT HARDER. We all know Travis fights hard he just doesn’t love!
Why love when the only love you gave got taken from you at such a young age? Travis won’t put his heart through that again – that is until her meets Abby Albernathy.
In Beautiful Disaster, Travis sometimes came across as over bearing but in Walking Disaster you get the thoughts behind that behaviour.
In Walking Disaster, Abby comes across as cruel and uncaring but this is why you NEED to read Beautiful Disaster first to understand her actions!
Getting both sides of the story helps explain all the crazy behaviour of both Abby and Travis.

When I first read Beautiful Disaster last year I fell in love with Travis and Abby and didn’t think a book boyfriend could be anymore beautiful… that was until I read Walking Disaster. Wow I didn’t think I could love Travis Maddox more. I was incorrect! I do love him a million times more after reading Walking Disaster.

What I love about Walking Disaster most is you know what to expect coming up in the book and you know the questions you had in Beautiful Disaster is going to be answered.
If you’re like me then you wanted to know what was going through Travis’s head when he got drunk and brought the two females back whilst Abby was asleep in his bed, what went through his head the morning Abby’s month was over and he woke to her being gone and of course what happened in Vegas! Well you’re going to get all them answers and more!

Travis is a bad boy who fights to let his emotions out. He uses women to prevent his heart ever getting hurt again… that is until Abby walks into his life at a fight! She is the Dove his mother told him about, his very own Pigeon. When Abby shows no interest in him whatsoever, he finds it refreshing. She makes him laugh and is beautiful to him no matter what she’s wearing… even if she decides to wear an outfit resembling PJ’s! She is a breath of fresh air.

Jamie McGuire takes us on a beautiful journey – again, only it’s more stunning in Walking Disaster than it was in Beautiful Disaster. This is not your typical love story. There is no boy meets girl, fall in love and live happily ever after. They have to Love Hard and Fight Harder!

Being in Travis’s head is hilarious, annoying, sad but most of all AMAZEBALLS! I’ve belly laughed so hard; I’ve had tears streaming down my cheeks and rib ache. I’ve sobbed until I couldn’t catch my breath and I’ve been on the edge of my seat even though I knew what was coming.

I have to say I’m so sad for Travis and Abby’s story to be at an end but the Epilogue is epic! I’m looking forward to still catching up with them in the Maddox brother books. Well I hope we do!

Favourite quote is still the same as it was in Beautiful Disaster. Only this time it is for different reasons.

“A toast” I yelled, climbing onto a chair. On my way to the top, I stole someone’s beer and held it out in front of me. “To douche bags!” I said gesturing to Brad. “And to girls that break your heart.” I bowed to Abby. My throat tightened. “And to the absolute fucking horror of losing your best friend because you were stupid enough to fall in love with her. ”

Wow. It gets me every time. My throat is tight and tears are swimming in my eyes!

M Malone - The Things I Do for You Book Review

The Things I Do For You - Amazon UK

The Things I Do For You -

A bargain. A baby. A billion things can go wrong.

NICHOLAS ALEXANDER doesn't mind being called a playboy. His charm serves him well in business and a beautiful woman is always on his arm. Except the one he's in love with.

Raina Winters doesn't believe in love, so when she's dumped right before her wedding, she's more upset about losing what she really wants from marriage. A baby.

When Nick learns about Raina's dilemma, his first reaction is to leave her hanging like she left him after their steamy one-night stand. But he finally has something Raina needs, so he offers her a deal. He'll give her a baby if she gives him something he desires just as much.

Just two little words.

I. Do.

I really enjoyed this book right from the start, Raina is such a lovely character and you can feel her longing to have a baby, and Nick is sooooo hot,  i wanted him to come and sweep me off my feet.  The story is told by both Characters point of view so we get to feel what both are feeling and it leaves you feeling like you want to protect them both from each other,  Raina because she is so keen to keep her heart intact that she refuses to beleive anyone could truly love her and Nick who wears his heart on his sleeve that you want to hold it in your hands and protect it,  it was so refreshing to see in this story it was the man who was declaring his love.

The book walks us through the start of a relationship and the lengths that someone would go to to give the person they love what they want and need,  without them even realising it,  you are pulled along and experience the ups and downs,  the romance and the crazy hot sex,  because yup its all there,  there is one particularly steamy scene in the shower!!

I have read previous books by this author and have enjoyed them so i can highly recommend this book,  i have included the Amazon link to Book 1 and the Short story (which is super hot wish it was longer i want more of Trent) i give this book 5* as it was fantastically written, smoking hot and a really nice romantic story Well Done Ms Malone you have definitely made a fan out of me

Christina Tetreault - Author Interview

For the launch of The Billionaire Princess (The Sherbrookes of Newport) we caught up with the lovely Christina Tetreault for a author interview,  I love all of Christina's Books and constantly demand to know when there will be another onewell you can imagine how happy i was to wake and find book Three had been released today,  hope you enjoy the interview.

Q.  If you could work with any author who would it be?
A.  If I could work with any writer, I think it might be Julia Quinn.  I think she is a wonderful writer.  I love her books. I was lucky enough to meet her once and she seemed very nice.  Plus I have always wanted to write a historical and who better to do it with.

Q. Who is your favorite author and is you writing style similar to theirs?
A. Who is my favorite author?  Oh, man I don't think I can pick just one.  I love all the following Julia Quinn, Johanna Lindsey, Jessica Andersen, Barbara Wallace, Julie Garwood.  Of all of them I think my writing style might be closest to Barbara Wallace.

Q. What's your favorite part of a book?
A. One of my favorite parts is when the hero realizes he is falling in love and doesn't know what to do.  I love to watch them squirm a little.

Q. When naming your characters, do you give any thought to the actual meaning?
A.  I have never thought about the meaning behind the names, however, when picking a name for a character I think about what I associate with that name.  For example I will never name one of my heroes Michael.  I have an ex boyfriend named Michael that is an ex for a reason.  And as a teacher the Michael's in my classes were always very difficult students.

Q. Who Are your target readers?
A.  My target readers are those who enjoy a contemporary romance, that focuses on the couple rather than any suspension or high fueled action.  At the same time my books are more for those readers who either do not want in-depth love scenes like those found in erotic novels or who like to take a break from those more intense bedroom scenes.

Q. What are the major themes of your work?
A. I think the major themes in my current series are family and looking beyond what everyone sees.

Q. Any recent works that you admire?
A. I love Jessica Andersen's NightKeepers Series.  I find the world she developed to be amazing. The books suck me in every time I pick one up.

Q. What do you think people search for in a book?
A. I know I search for escape and entertainment in a book.  I think most people that read fiction are looking for the same.  A book lets you escape to a new place while at the same being entertained and using your brain unlike with television.

Q. How have your personal experiences affected your writing?
A. My family life, outside of my husband and children, has had a fair amount of turmoil.  I think this is why I often write about families.

Q. What genre of books do you like to read? do you limit yourself to only the genre that you write yourself?
A.  I love to read several genres including contemporary romance, paranormal romance, romantic suspension and historical romance.  Really I will try almost anything.

Q. Were you always good at writing?
A.  I'd like to say yes, but the truth is I have some manuscripts on my computer that I cringe at now. I think everyone, even NY Times bestsellers, learn and develop over time.  In another few years I hope to have improved even more.

Q. How do you get started with writing a story (as in, how do you start developing the story, how do you get inspired for it)
A.  I first think of the characters I want to write about.  What are they like?  Then I flush out how they will meet and what problems they will face.  After that I just start writing.  Sometimes I have to scrap what I have and start over, which really stinks but I am not much of a plotter.

Q.  What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing?
A.  Take a day or two off, but not much more.  If you need to, think about what you loved about your favorite books or movies.  What emotions did those things create.  Can you create those emotions in your work.  Most important is to try to write everyday, even if you scrap it later.  It keeps you engaged in the story and you can always fix it later.

Thank you Christina for your fantastic answers,  dont forget to check out our review on all of Christina's books that are available,  im off to start reading book Three

Thank you

The Teachers Billionaire (book 1)

Callie Taylor's life is turned upside down when she learns the truth about her birth following the death of her mother. Not only is her father alive, but he's none other than presidential candidate Senator Warren Sherbrooke.

Billionaire and confirmed bachelor, Dylan Talbot, is devoted to his family. When his stepfather Warren Sherbrooke receives a letter from a past love telling him they have a daughter together, Dylan is instantly suspicious. In order to keep the media vultures away and protect Warren's political aspirations, Dylan convinces Warren to let him handle the situation.

As Callie and Dylan spend time together, they can't resist the feelings that blossom between them. However, when Callie learns the real reason he has been spending time with her their fledgling romance is put in jeopardy and only complete honesty can save it.

When i first found this book i had never heard of Christina and had stumbled upon it by accident,  im so glad that i did,  i loved it, the story is very well written, the characters likable and a fantastic introduction into the Sherbrookes of Newport.  This book is a free read on amazon but i would more than happy pay for it as it really is a fantastic read.

The Billionaire Playboy - Book 2

She's spent her life avoiding love

Captain Charlotte “Charlie” O'Brien, a doctor in the United States Navy, returns to her home in North Salem, Massachusetts to visit her family and make an important decision about her future. Mother Nature has other plans when a hurricane strikes, flooding the town and throwing Jake Sherbrooke in Charlie's path. Initially she believes Jake is nothing more than a rich playboy, but quickly, she learns that he is so much more.

The media calls him Prince Charming

Jake Sherbrooke has never been one to follow the path laid out by his parents. That is why he started the Falmouth Foundation, a non-profit disaster relief organization rather than enter politics. When he learns of the destruction in North Salem, he immediately travels there to offer aid and meets Charlie O'Brien. Charlie is unlike any woman he has ever meet and he can not help but be drawn to her.

Soon neither can ignore the incredible chemistry between them. But will his reputation as a billionaire playboy damage their budding romance?

This is actually my favorite of the series so far,  I LOVED Jake, and i really liked that Charlie is such a strong Character,  She doesn't take any messing and isn't overly impressed when rich boy Jake shows up and the sparks fly. Its so lovely to see their relationship develop before our eyes (Jake sounds soooo hot) and watch them overcome all the obstacles that is placed in their way. the story was fast paced and i couldn't put it down, i cannot recommend this book enough.

Alicia's Review of Hopeless

By Colleen Hoover.

  Product Description

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies...

That's what Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she's never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he's nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn't at all who he's been claiming to be. When the secrets he's been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky's life will change forever.

Recommended for mature readers due to sexual content and heavy subject matter involving abuse.

Wow. This book is amazing. I didn't see that twist coming!
Sky has been home schooled and her mother doesn't allow technology in the house which means Sky has no mobile, TV, computer, e-reader and so on. She begs her mom to let her finally join high school where her best friend and neighbour, Six goes. Her mom finally agrees to allow her to go when Six gets accepted to go on a foreign exchange student program leaving Sky to go to school without any friends.

Sky first meets Dean Holder at the store. She is instantly attracted to him but he looks at her funny the follows her to demand her name. She soon realised he has a bad temper and he sort of scares her. Holder has a bad reputation as being a bully.

Six has a bad reputation at school and with Sky being her best friend, all the students automatically put her in the same circle. She has a unjustified bad rep!
Sky gets nasty notes posted on her locker and is talked about by most of the students but Sky doesn't care. She just gets on with her day.

Sky and Holder start getting along with each other and build a friendship leading to a relationship but Holder has a secret. That secret is huge!!

I won't tell you any more about this secret as that's the main storyline but I can say you need to read this book. It's breath taking! I have laughed, cried, fell in love with both Sky and Holder and also hated Dean Holder.

The emotions Colleen Hoover has put into this book are outstanding. At times I held my breath hoping things don't go from bad to worse. Of course with a huge secret you can almost guarantee they will.

Will Sky and Holder be Hopeless always? You'll have to go find out!!

This book get 5* from me. Super read.

Go on over and purchase Hopeless for just £0.77/$1.16.

A starlet who will do anything to get ahead - including throw Kiera under a bus - and the reappearance of Denny, Kiera's former boyfriend, are just two of the obstacles the lovers must overcome to be together forever. But if they can survive, their love will blossom like never before.

Interview with S.C Stevens.

1. What Inspired you to write the books, Thoughtless, Effortless and Reckless?
Thoughtless was a daydream that I couldn't get out of my head. I wrote a scene for it, then another and another, and before I knew it, I had a full book. After Thoughtless was released, and I saw the outpouring of love for the characters, I started planning a second and third book.

2. Did the character's come to your mind or are they based on people you've met/know? (including all band members?)
All of the characters are imaginary. They came to me as the story grew.

3. If you could work with any author to write a book, who would it be?
I've often thought about doing a book with Nicky Charles or K.A. Linde, but I'm not sure I could write a book that way. I'm amazed by people who can.

4. What's your favourite part of a book? (beginning, middle, end, climax)
The climax is my favourite part, I think. That’s usually the part with the highest emotions, which I really love to write.

5. Did you want the book to be as sad as it was? Heart breaking in some parts
I didn't plan any of the emotions that came out of the book. It was all organic, happening as the story happened.

6. When naming your characters, do you give any thought to the actual meaning?
In this particular series, no. The names came to me as I wrote the story. I did, however, originally have Kellan as Denny and Denny as Kellan, but Denny seemed more Australian to me, so I switched them.

7. Who Are your target readers?
I don’t write for any particular age range, but I do view the books as mature. A wide variety of people seem to enjoy them. I have readers in their late teens and in their late sixties.

8. What do you think reader's search for in a book?
I think readers like books that capture their attention and keep them engaged. What exactly that magical element is depends on the person.

9. What genre of books do you like to read? Do you limit yourself to only the genre that you write yourself? I have found that romance is the easiest for me to write, and while I read a lot of romance, I really love fantasy too. I'm reading A Game of Thrones right now—it’s incredible!!

10. Were you always interested & good at writing?
I have always had an interest in writing, but never really had a story to tell until Thoughtless. I'm not sure if Ism good at it yet, but I keep trying.

11. how do you get started with writing a story (as in, how do you start developing the story, how do you get inspired for it)
Odd things will inspire a story—hearing something on the radio, watching a movie, listening to music. One of my stories came about because I overheard a girl at a bank telling her friend her purse was stolen. I never know where the inspiration is going to come from.

12. What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing?
I like to do mundane things—clean, drive, go for a walk. And I listen to a lot of music. That’s what works for me. I’ll also talk things out, see if I can work through a problem in a way that makes sense and is true to the character.

13. You recently posted an alternative ending to Thoughtless.... I was destroyed reading it. Real body racking sobs!!... Do you think readers would have preferred Keira to be killed off? - me personally, I didn't. I love what you decided to do with the published books!
That was my original ending, and no, fans preferred her to live at the end. That’s one of the reasons I changed it. I prefer her living too.

14. What advice would you give to your reader who have been inspired by you to attempt writing their own story?
Just keep plugging away at it! Write because you love the story and need to write it. Don’t write with any expectations of how the story may or may not do, just write to write.

15. Can we expect to get any other future books starring the whole gang? Maybe the love story of one of the other band members.
I may possibly do a spinoff with Anna and Griffin. We’ll see!

Thank you very much for your time S.C. Stevens.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this series. I had a Kellan Kyle coma once I'd finished Reckless and found it hard to start a new book!!
6******'s baby!!

Alicia's Review of Misguided Heart by Amanda Bennett.

  Product Description

Aston Boyd has always put everything into her work. She has never needed anyone in her life and has survived on her own since she was 18, never looking back. When she gets her dream promotion and becomes the new editor at one of the biggest publishing houses in Arizona, she thinks she has finally figured it all out.

But, when Aston receives an invitation to her first love's wedding, she starts to re-evaluate just how much she has given up for her career.

With a mission in mind to try and win back the one she let go, she never took in to consideration that what she might need, or even want, could be right in front of her.

Will she be willing to put her heart out there to get back the life she could have had, or will she try for something new?

Sloan Holden is the quintessential bad boy trying to cover all that up with his good boy act. He has spent the last 9 years trying to prove to his over bearing father that he can change his ways, and one day run his publishing house. The only thing standing in his way is the slew of fast women and his wild lifestyle, which he just can't seem to give up. He doesn't do relationships and always vowed to stay single forever.

A lot can change when the one person you thought you would never fall for worms their way into your heart, but will the feelings be returned?

  My Review

I loved this book however I didn't like Aston in some parts. I wanted to shout at the ipad for her to just choose who she wants already!

Aston has has some bad relationships but one who she thinks she still loves sends her an invite to his wedding. She decides to go.

Sloan is on his best behaviour as he wants to one day take over his fathers business. He hasn't noticed before how attractive Aston is but soon decides that he wants her. He starts to flirt with Aston and 'accidentally' bumps into her whether that be at the cafe or in the break room... pretty much anywhere he knows she's going to be.

Aston likes Sloan but her goal is to show her ex, at his wedding what he's missing. The night before the wedding she goes out with her friends and bumps into another ex who she still likes and he seems to still like her only he's married. One thing I found a bit cryptic was the married ex Darren when she mentioned him being married, he replied with 'It's not what you think'.... It never did say what that was all about. Hopefully we'll get more on that with the next book!!

Aston soon realises she likes Sloan a lot more than her ex's but it takes her a while to finally decide.

Sloan was heart broken in the past with a accident that made him never want to open his heart to anyone ever again so he fights his feeling for Aston as they start to get close. He needs to move on and move away to the new office at New York and decides that's exactly what he's going to do!!

I really enjoyed this book and give it 4*'s.

Alicia's Review of The Rocker That Holds Me.

  Product Description

Touring with four rockers is the thing of dreams…

At least that is what people tell me. To me those four rockers are my family. They have watched over me from the time I was five years old. Protecting me from my mother and her drunken, drug addict rages. When they made it big they still watched over me. And when my monster of a mother died they took over as my guardians.

In the six years since that happened I have watched over the four men that
mean everything to me. I take care of them just as they once took care of me. I handle all the dirty work behind the scenes of a rockers life. It isn’t always pretty. At times it can be damn near disgusting, especially when I have to get rid of their one night stands. Ugh!

Taking care of them doesn't bother me though. I mean it’s not like I'm in love with one of them. That would be crazy. Falling for a rocker is NOT smart.

Okay, so I’m not smart. I love my guys, and one of them kind of holds my heart in his big old rocker hand. But I’m dealing. I’ve been able to keep it my little secret for years now.
I'm not, however, dealing with this bug that I seem to have caught. It scares the hell out of me. I hate doctors, but I’m suddenly more worried about finding out what is wrong with me than what the doctor might do to me.

When I get my test results back my life will never be the same again…

***Because of language and adult situations not suitable for readers under 17***

Oh wow. I've fell in love! Not with just Nik, I sort of love them all.
What an amazing book!! This band is the nicest Rock band on paper!!
They seem to have all had a bad childhood but you don't really learn about any of the rock bands past, just Em's.

Em didn't get a good start in life with her mother who abused her. She lived in a trailer park with her mum which is where she meets all the band. They all live there with the parents. They take care of her from a very young age. help her when she is scared. Cleaning her when she's been beaten and providing somewhere safe for her to sleep when her mum is high on drugs.

It's written beautifully and has stolen my heart. The only problem I had was it wasn't long enough.... I needed more of these amazing characters!!

The Rocker Nik should hold ME!! Lol

I love rock star books at the minute so this was fab!

I give this book 4*'s (Only because I needed it to be longer!!)

Review of Suicide Note by Teresa Mummert.

Disclaimer: This book contains no acts of suicide and it does have a 'Happily Ever After'

A soldier returning for mid-tour leave decides to stay with a cousin in Maine, after his fiancĂ© leaves him for someone else while he is away at war.
His cousin is going through his own devastation and is struggling to pick up the pieces and move on with his family.
As they try to help each other through the pain, Shane's path crosses Jenn's and he soon learns that everything happens for a reason.

Alicia's Review.

WOW! Ok I'm trying to gather my thoughts as I've just been blown away! OH MY FREAKING GOD! This is one heart wrenching book!! Teresa has managed to break my heart with a single book then pieced it back together again. The emotions in Suicide Note took my breathe away. I've laughed, cried and sobbed. I fell in love and felt hate.

Jenn doesn't feel like she's a strong enough person to deal with a devastating blow of betrayal but she is one hell of a strong, independent young lady. She is so unsure of herself and tries to hide away from everyone.
Shane is in the Army, deployed overseas and discovers the woman he loves is no longer waiting for him back home. She has moved on. He is devastated so whilst on leave he decides to visit his cousin (who is like a brother) Jake, his wife May and their children to avoid having to go home.
Whilst Shane is on a two week break he meets Jenn. He feels she needs to be saved after he discovers a letter, not realising he needs saving too.

They build a strong friendship that swept me away. This book is an amazing journey of love, trust and fate.
It's not so easy to trust when your heart has been so badly broken but both Jenn and Shane slowly begin to heal each other.

The emotions this book brought out in me was surprising. I felt each of Jenn and Shane's pain and passion. I think a lot of that has to do with my deep appreciation for the the men and women who serve their countries. Usually I only see the toll it takes on those waiting back at home for their loved ones to return. This book was a glimpse of the other side of that reality and the pain those serving go through. My heart tore with the emotions Teresa managed to capture and write into her book.
I was hooked from page one and didn't put it down until I had finished it. It's stunningly written and I didn't want it to come to an end. I have fallen in love with all the characters in this book... well except maybe one!

This book has become my favourite read of 2013 and I know the book and the characters will hold a special place in my heart! The book ended perfectly with such an emotional final scene and a brilliant final line that is still playing through my head.
I will be sure to make sure everyone I know get this book. It is a must read, so beautiful.
I give this book a massive 5*!!
